This series was inspired by stories, sisterhood and strong women. 2017 saw a rise in accountability of treatment of women in their workplace and lives. The artworks are stories told through delicate, ephemeral paper cuts that seem like they might disappear or tear. They loom large over their substrate casting an ominous shadow. Each story is a study in the lives of thousands of women- stories both heard and unheard.
The shapes are painstakingly hand cut and arranged on a white board by pins. The pieces appear to float toward the viewer. The minimal, sparse use of color and materials reflect the vision of the artist to strip the story bare and present a concise, essential distill of her idea.
